2025 UTME: JAMB invites expert to investigate mass failure

Published on May 13, 2025 at 01:55 PM

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has reportedly invited an education technology expert and the Chief Executive Officer of Educare, Alex Onyia to investigate the 2025 UTME.

DAILY POST reports that there were widespread complaints of technical glitches and incomplete questions that reportedly marred the exam.

JAMB announced last week that over 1.5 million out of the 1.9 million that sat the 2025 UTME scored below 200 out of the total 400 marks.

The announcement raised concern across the country, with many parents and stakeholders calling for a thorough investigation.

The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, while reacting to the report of mass failure, asserted that the results showed effective anti-malpractice efforts by JAMB.

However, the minister’s comment didn’t sit well with some Nigerians, who insisted that the outcome of the exam must be investigated.

Alex Onyia in a post on X on Tuesday said he has been formerly invited by the Board to transparently conduct a thorough review of the exam.

The expert urged affected candidates to remain calm, assuring them that the outcome of the investigation would be positive.

He wrote, “I received a formal invitation from JAMB for us to transparently conduct a thorough review of the 2025 JAMB exam. The review date is next tomorrow (Thursday).

“After our review, I will publicly share my findings.

“If you have been troubled, keep calm. I’m hopeful that something positive will come out of it. You burnt candles, had sleepless nights, and had high hopes. We will not fail you!”;;
