The Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Gbenga Oyekola has accused the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rahidi Adewolu Ladoja and former First Lady of the state, Mrs Florence Ajimobi of moves to induce the Speaker of the assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin on the alleged plot to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde.
Oyekola made the claim in a detailed statement he issued on Tuesday, clarifying his stance on the alleged impeachment plot.
The lawmaker, who distanced himself from the reported plot, alleged that it was discovered after a critical meeting that some individuals were allegedly working to push the assembly against the governor.
Oyekola explained that the Speaker had been invited by Olubadan after previously seeking his support for his 2027 gubernatorial ambition.
He alleged that during the meeting, the Olubadan advised the Speaker and allegedly offered to facilitate a House of Representatives ticket for him under the All Progressives Congress, APC, along with financial backing for the election but the Speaker declined.
The lawmaker further revealed that the Speaker was also approached by former First Lady of Oyo State, Mrs Florence Ajimobi, on a similar matter, where he was allegedly offered money but refused and did not accept any inducement.
