The founder of One Love Family, Satguru Maharaj Ji, has stated that he will assist in the release of the imprisoned leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, provided that the Biafra radio broadcasts and the sit-at-home order are halted.

Maharaj made this commitment on Wednesday during an interview on his temple's in-house radio station.

He mentioned that the IPOB leader is guilty of the terrorism charges brought against him, and anyone found guilty of such offenses is subject to a death sentence.

“We are thankful that the case has been temporarily suspended because, given the accusations, it could lead to a death penalty, considering the serious nature of the crimes associated with him and the way the constitution is structured,” he explained.

“Anyone accused of such acts (terrorism) faces a death sentence. It is only due to grace that Kanu managed to escape this fate. For him to be released, it must be through a political resolution, which will be approached in various ways.”

“Those advocating for his clemency must take meaningful actions. In other words, they should not approach this empty-handed; they need to cease the Biafra radio operations wherever they may be,” he added.

The Islamic cleric joined figures such as Abia State Governor Alex Otti, activist Omoyele Sowore, and other leaders from the South-East to amplify efforts aimed at securing Kanu’s release through a political framework.

He reassured residents of the South-East that “all hope is not lost.”

It is noteworthy that Otti met with Tinubu at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday after visiting Kanu at the Sokoto prison facility, where the IPOB leader is currently serving his sentence.
