France national team captain Kylian Mbappé has insisted that PSG’s success in the Champions League last season does not affect him.
Mbappé has faced criticism, with many pundits and fans hitting out at him for having a blank season at the Santiago Bernabéu, while the club he just leftâPSGâended up winning the UEFA Champions League.
Ahead of their UEFA Nations League third-place play-off on Sunday, a journalist drew a comparison with PSG.
As reported by RMC Sport, Mbappé said that although Real Madrid missed out on a number of major titles, he has enjoyed a rewarding year in Spain.
“A blank season? Are you sure? What’s an off-season? What’s a blank season? Do you watch the games? We won two titles.
“That’s the importance of words. We missed out on some important titles. It’s been a rewarding year.
“PSG won the UCL without me, that doesn’t affect me. That’s a good thing,”; the Frenchman said.
Mbappé won the European Golden Boot for the first time in his career, and also claimed the Pichichi.
The two trophies referred to by Mbappé include the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
