Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has shared some of the challenges she encountered at the start of her career.

During a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the movie star disclosed that one of her biggest obstacles was dealing with bizarre scripts.

She recounted being offered a script that required her to sleep with a dog, which she turned down because she believed it would negatively affect her image if she accepted it as her first role in Nollywood.

“Even as a newcomer, I was presented with a script to sleep with a dog. I refused because I couldn’t begin my career in that manner. Just imagine my very first movie being about that. It doesn’t make any sense. It would become a label, as whatever you start with is what people will associate you with. I didn’t want to be known as someone who sleeps with dogs in films,” she explained.

“So, I rejected that script. However, as soon as I turned it down, many other actresses jumped at it. I’m not sure if any of them are still in the spotlight today,” she noted.

Nkechi Blessing mentioned that after leaving the production site, she encountered veteran Nollywood filmmaker Emeka Duru, who offered to collaborate with her.

She added that Duru eventually provided her with the chance to make her debut in the film ‘Through The Fire’ by Imem Isong.
