IT was morning like any other when Jane Green was confronted with a nightmare scenario many dread: police banging on her front door.
The was about to find out that her husband of 10 years and the father of her six-year-old daughter had been downloading nearly 2,000 sick child sexual abuse images onto his phone and laptop.

But even more disturbing were the -generated images that were later discovered by cops, featuring a young girl who looked similar to the couple’s young daughter.
Child sex abuse images are categorised according to the type and severity of the abuse. Some 882 of the pictures he was storing showed the most severe kind.
Among his depraved stash were a mix of images generated by AI based on her partner’s sick prompts and those downloaded from the internet.
According to Jane*: “The images were found as he had downloaded an image that had a tag on it. Which alerted who then informed in the UK.”
It had just turned 7:40am, and Jane’s kids were getting ready for their first week back at school after the Christmas holidays in 2024, when the police arrived.
Hearing noises outside, she went to the living room window to investigate, expecting it to be her father who often took her youngest daughter to school.
But it was her partner who opened the door to four officers.
With no idea what was about to happen, and the kids’ cereal box still in her hand, Jane described her world as “being shattered” the moment the police marched through her house to arrest her husband.
The four officers then split into two pairs: two to stay with Jane and two to speak with her husband.
She says: “They [police] told me they were arresting my partner.
“They were explaining to me briefly that he was making indecent images of children, but it wouldn’t go into my head.”
“Two female police officers had taken him away; he had already admitted to them what he had done.”
Before the arrest, Jane had no idea her loving husband had been engaging in such depraved behaviour and there were “no red flags” at the time.
Jane added: “Looking back, which is easy to say now, I would go to bed earlier, and he would stay up. I guess that is when he would take his opportunity to go online.
“His moods would change, he would have mood swings, he could get quite stressed, which I now presume was from what he was doing.
“But other than that, nothing, there were no red flags.”
Jane met her husband during a night out when she was 32 years old.
Already a parent to one daughter from a previous relationship, two years later, Jane welcomed her youngest with the man she would go on to marry.
She said: “I thought everything was great, like any relationship, we had our ups and downs, but this was our future.
“We both had, we were able to take our children on nice holidays, everything, in my eyes, was great.”
Immediately following his arrest, Jane’s partner was made to leave the family home, and she was told social services would be in contact. Within days, they had started an initial assessment.
They noted that Jane’s partner could not have any contact with his children until their formal review – to make sure the children were safe.
She adds: “I was then informed that the police would have to tell the school and local authorities about what had happened.
“Nobody wants their life to be scrutinised. I am a teacher, he had a good job, this is not what I would have ever expected to happen.”
Under the terms of the review, he was not allowed any unsupervised contact with the girls – including letters, phone calls, FaceTime chats or face-to-face visits.

After his arrest, Jane’s eldest daughter didn’t want to make any contact with him. But the pair’s youngest daughter had two supervised visits with him.
Jane says: “My youngest daughter really struggled with everything.
“He used to read to her at night and would take her to nursery each morning. He was there one minute and not the next.”
‘I did not know the severity of it’
One of the lowest points came five months after the arrest, when Jane was contacted by social services, who informed her that they had found AI images where the child looked similar to their youngest daughter on her partner’s devices.
From that point on, Jane immediately cancelled any supervised visits.
She said: “It was another kick in the teeth.
“I did not know the severity of it; all I was told initially was that there were images of children.”
In May 2025, Jane’s partner appeared in court where he pleaded to three counts of making indecent pseudo-photographs of children between January 2021 and January 2024.
It is a really hard situation to be in, I loved this person; I shared my life with him. My youngest daughter has struggled to understand what has happened

He also pleaded guilty to possessing 21 prohibited images of children when he was arrested on January 2024.
Jane’s partner was made the subject of a five-year sexual harm prevention order that will tightly restrict his online activities and require the offender to register any devices he uses with the police
He was also placed on the sex offender register for ten years. He had no prior similar charges.
“It is a really hard situation to be in,” Jane said. “I loved this person; I shared my life with him. My youngest daughter has struggled to understand what has happened.

“It is tough, she will bring him up now and again. I know one day I will have to explain everything to her, which I really struggle with.
“She still talks about her dad and will say she missed him. I just don’t know what to tell her, it is really hard, and not what you expect in life.”
Parental rights fight
Since the arrest, Jane has gone on to launch a petition, after discovering that her partner still holds the same parental rights as she does over her daughter.
These include the right to refuse the change of her surname, which Jane says her partner insists on keeping as part of her daughter’s identity.
Jane said: “I wanted to change her surname, I don’t want him to be associated with her.
“I have now changed her surname to my surname as a preferred name, but I can’t legally change it, as he won’t let me remove his surname from hers.
“I find it really wrong. I find it frustrating. I am the sole carer; I provide for her.
“He has not protected her; he has done what he has done. It feels so wrong that he has parental responsibility.”
Jane has started a petition calling for the government to amend parental responsibility laws for convicted paedophiles.
