Massive Warehouse Inferno Ignites as Ash Rains Down, Smoke Visible from 30 Miles Away

A MASSIVE blaze has erupted at a warehouse in the early hours of the morning with smoke seen from 30 miles away and ash falling in local gardens.

County Fire & Rescue Service were called to Stour Road, Harwich, at around 3am this morning.

Some 35 battled the blaze throughout the early hours of the morning.

The inferno could be seen across the River Orwell, around 30 miles away, sparking worry among residents in nearby Ipswich.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue service received several calls from people concerned about the inferno in neighbouring towns.

Smoke rising from the warehouse forced the fire service to issue warnings to locals to keep their doors and windows closed.

Hot ash from the raging blaze reportedly fell in gardens nearby.

Images from the scene show pillars of fire rising from the roof of the burning warehouse.

Thick plumes of black smoke can be seen pouring into the as emergency crews desperately battle the fire.

It remains unclear what sparked the blaze at this time.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: “Thank you to everyone who has rung our Control Room to let us know about the fire on Stour Road in Harwich.

“Our crews are at the scene and are working to extinguish a warehouse that is alight.

“There is a lot of coming from the incident, if you live nearby please keep all your windows and doors shut.”
