How Chelsea could line up against Arsenal with Cucurella set to replace Chilwell and Mendy deputising in goal

CHELSEA welcome high-flying Arsenal to Stamford Bridge on Sunday in a mouthwatering lunchtime kick off.

Boss Graham Potter has not been afraid to change up his side since taking over earlier in the season, so expect more of the same at the weekend.

How Chelsea could line up against Arsenal

Ben Chilwell is definitely out after injuring his hamstring on Wednesday night, and is likely to be replaced by Marc Cucurella.

SunSport exclusively revealed the England left-back is now set to miss the World Cup.

Potter has confirmed the impressive Kepa Arrizabalaga is out too, so Edouard Mendy will start in goal.

The Blues gaffer admitted in his press conference this afternoon that Kepa will not play for Chelsea before the World Cup.

Other than that it’s difficult to predict how Potter will line up his team.

Thiago Silva and Trevoh Chalobah could partner each other in the heart of defence with Cesar Azpilicueta at right-back while Reece James continues his recovery from injury.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is likely to be rewarded for his good run of form in the middle, and Jorginho could get the nod alongside him.

Mason Mount is sure to start against the Gunners, while Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could play either side of Kai Havertz up front.

Alternatively, the unpredictable Potter could go down a different route and play Mateo Kovacic with Denis Zakaria in the middle.

Kovacic missed the win over Dinamo Zagreb as a precaution but is likely to be back on Sunday, while Zakaria could be rewarded for his excellent display with a second consecutive start.

The Swiss midfielder came off with a knock in midweek but is fit to play against Arsenal.

Potter could also tinker with his formation and line up with a back five, which may involve shunting Loftus-Cheek out to right wing-back.

That would allow Kalidou Koulibaly to come into central defence.

Aubameyang could get the nod up front and be tasked with leading the line against his former team after claiming there’s “nothing personal” between him and the Gunners.
