Suddenly, a motorcycle speeds into view.
The rider cuts through the crowd and pulls up beside the victim.
The passenger then pulls out a gun and fires three shots at point-blank range.
One of the bullets also strikes the coffin carrying her mother’s body.
The attackers immediately flee the scene.
The woman, identified as Amanda Arantes, collapses onto the street as panicked bystanders scatter.
Military said one of the bullets hit her spinal cord.
Emergency responders reported that she was struggling to speak and could not form coherent sentences.
She was initially taken to Cônego Monte Raso Hospital in Minas Gerais.
Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later transferred to a hospital in Varginha, where she remains under close observation.
Authorities said the suspects were riding a white CG 160 motorcycle.
Both men were dressed in dark clothing.
The passenger was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and light blue trainers.
Police believe the pair fled into a rural area.
The motorcycle thought to have been used in the attack was later found hidden in dense vegetation, along with two helmets.
Investigators say the items match witness descriptions and security camera footage.
In the aftermath of the attack, police arrested one suspect on suspicion of attempted homicide.
Officers said he had been seen using the motorbike in recent weeks and gave conflicting statements about its whereabouts on the day of the shooting.
He remains in custody as authorities continue to investigate the motive.
