HOMEOWNERS are just now realizing that a birthday party decoration can actually be used to clean up pesky dust.

For just $1 at Walmart, savvy homemakers can make cat hair, blanket fuzz, and more disappear entirely.

Balloons can be used to grab onto dust when they’re blown up and supercharged with static electricity.

All you have to do is grab a cheap pack from any store and get to work.

First, blow up the balloon fully, then tie the end closed before rubbing it against wool, polyester, cotton, or fleece.

Once the static creates a sticky surface, the balloon can be run along any dust-covered wall, table, or mantle filled with knick-knacks, according to House Outlook .

It’s especially suitable for delicate surfaces, such as wall art or electronics, that vacuums could potentially damage.

After collecting the dust, all you have to do is pop the balloon over a garbage can and then throw it away.

One homeowner wrote in Apartment Therapy that she tried the hack using a balloon from a discount store, which she rubbed on a wool blanket.

She lightly moved the balloon across hanging decorations and windows and watched with shock as piles of dust came off.

However, she was left a bit deflated when she popped the balloon over a garbage can and watched it fly all over the place.

The house hacker learned that it’s most beneficial to run the dust-filled balloon over the sink before popping and pitching it.

With that extra step in mind, she decided that the hack could be beneficial, but maybe not as convenient as a simple duster.

Anyone who wishes to try the hack can get a pack of 15 balloons at Walmart for just $1.
