But no one was ready for the bombshell news that was delivered in only a matter of words: “I’m sorry to have to tell you this.
“JJ’s [“Jack Junior] dead”.
Fans flooded to the trailer’s comment’s section on in a state of shock, unable to believe had passed away.
Though viewers seemed pleased to hear it, as JJ was a on the programme who frequently harmed his twin sister, Frankie.
At his time of supposed death, he was serving time in prison.
“JJ’S DEAD!!!,” said one user followed by a stream of celebration emojis.
“If I’m supposed to feel something about that [JJs death], I don’t,” began another. “JJ was twisted and it was only a matter of time before someone brought him to his end.”
Elsewhere in the comments section, speculation began to swirl about JJ’s cause of death and who could have potentially killed him off.
“Do you think Sully killed JJ?,” asked one user, as others seemed to back the theory.
“Sully” (Connor Sullivan) is the son of a criminal but actually an undercover police officer.
He portrays the character of a gangsta to get in with people who are deemed to be dangerous before working to bring them to justice.
He once went on a date with Frankie, after they matched on an online app.
Another theorised that JJ “had ” and “collapsed in prison”, which could have led to a hands-off death without a killer to uncover at all.
first introduced JJ to their storyline last year in a bid to highlight the common but .
With JJ often labelled the ‘golden boy’ and Frankie the ‘problem child’, the storyline delved into the dynamics of the pair within the family, and how the parents choose to investigate Frankie’s distressing behaviour, as she struggled to deal with JJ’s abuse.
Despite working with charity SARSAS (Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support) to write the storyline, Hollyoaks received a flurry of saying scenes were “distressing”.
Now Frankie will have to go forward knowing her brother has passed away, and that he won’t be serving the time in prison that would have help to give her more of a sense of “justice”.
As one user in the comment’s under the trailer theorised: “Frankie wanted justice.
“For him [JJ] to serve his sentence and suffer.
“That she knew he would be banned from going near her again or being trusted by anyone ever again.
“Sully, it seems, took that justice away. JJ was given the easy way out and that’s not fair after everything she’s been put through.”
Hollyoaks is available for viewing on Channel 4.
