Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has condoled the government and people of Katsina State over the death of the immediate past President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.

Bago, in a message conveyed through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, described the former president as an elder statesman who has etched his name in the annals of Nigeria’s history.

He observed that former President Buhari was a highly disciplined personality who lived a life of service to humanity and demonstrated unwavering dedication to nation-building.

The governor maintained that the deceased was an icon of integrity and patriotism, from his days as a military officer to his tenure as Head of State in 1983, and later as a democratically elected president in 2015 and 2019.

According to the statement, “The deceased had remained steadfast in fighting corruption and making Nigeria better throughout his administration, especially through the numerous initiatives introduced by his government, such as the expansion of rail lines, construction, and rehabilitation of major roads, establishment of the Social Investment Programmes, and agricultural and security reforms, among others, amidst daunting challenges.”;

Bago said the legacies and contributions of President Buhari to the Nigerian project, despite the challenges, cannot be forgotten in a hurry.

He extended his deepest condolences to the family of former President Buhari, the government, and the people of Katsina State over the great loss.

The governor added, “I pray Allah will forgive all the shortcomings of the deceased and grant him Aljanna Firdausi.”;
