The Benue State Government has fired back at Senator Abba Moro, the Senate Minority Leader and representative of Benue South, over his recent remarks alleging an “absence of governance”;; in Zone C, also known as Benue South Senatorial District.

In a statement issued by Adv. Ngbedde Valentine Ofoine Adoka-Ole, Media Assistant to the Deputy Governor of Benue State, the government described Moro’s comments as “reckless, irresponsible, and politically motivated,”;; stating that they do not reflect the reality on the ground.

The statement accused Moro of conveniently forgetting the years of neglect suffered by Zone C under the previous Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration, a government in which Moro was a key player.

The government further accused Moro of hypocrisy, recalling how he remained silent during the controversial and unexecuted PDP-era road contracts in Benue South, including the Obagaji-Okokolo and Otukpo Icho-Naka projects.

“It is truly unfortunate that Senator Abba Moro consistently appears to be promoting divisive tendencies, rather than serving as a unifying figure.

“He was silent during the PDP’s years of failure, when Benue South was effectively abandoned,”;; the statement read.

Contrary to Moro’s allegations, the statement highlighted the achievements of the Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia-led administration, noting major investments in road infrastructure, healthcare, education, and welfare programs.

The statement added that a total of ₦75 billion worth of road contracts have been awarded specifically for Zone C alone, far surpassing what was seen under previous governments.

“The people of Benue South deserve honest discourse rooted in facts, and not unfounded allegations hinged on political prejudices,”;; the statement added.
