"Harry Maguire Set to Reject £500,000-a-Week Saudi Offer as He Aims for New Manchester United Deal and Leadership Position"

HARRY MAGUIRE is prepared to reject a £500,000-a-week move to Saudi Arabia in favor of signing a new contract with Manchester United, according to reports.

The 32-year-old will become a free agent at the end of the current season and has attracted interest from clubs in the Middle East.

Maguire has been frequently linked with a departure from United in recent years, having struggled to secure a starting position under previous management.

He became a key player under the current manager last season but has started only twice in the Premier League this campaign.

Should he choose to leave, Maguire would be presented with significant financial incentives in Saudi Arabia, with clubs reportedly interested in him.

However, the Mirror reports that Maguire is inclined to forgo such a lucrative opportunity to commit his future to United, provided they offer him an extension.

Manchester United is contemplating extending the former Leicester star’s contract, a move they had previously executed last summer.

The report further indicates that Maguire understands that joining a club in Saudi Arabia could negatively impact his chances of representing England.

Nevertheless, he is also aware that the next contract he signs could be the last major one of his football career, so he must ensure he secures favorable terms.

SunSport reported this week that discussions have commenced with the club's management.

Maguire has had preliminary talks with director of football negotiations Matt Hargreaves, with further discussions expected in the upcoming weeks.

Amorim holds Maguire in high esteem, having included him in his five-man leadership group this season.

He appointed him captain during United’s disappointing defeat to Grimsby.

Previously, Maguire had been stripped of the captaincy by former manager Erik ten Hag in July 2023.

However, he has seen an improvement in his form under Amorim and has become a fan favorite due to his consistent performances.

He has participated in 38 of Amorim’s 50 matches so far, and fans will fondly remember his dramatic stoppage-time winner against Lyon last season.

Maguire joined United from Leicester for a record £80 million for a defender in 2019.

He has made 253 appearances for the Red Devils and was recently presented with a commemorative frame from director of football Jason Wilcox to celebrate his 250th match.

This summer, he expressed his openness to extending his contract with United, stating it would be "foolish" to leave at this juncture.

Maguire remarked: “In the coming months, we will sit down and discuss our future and whether they wish to extend my contract.
