Gunmen, believed to be kidnappers, have reportedly taken three young boys hostage in the Ihunmudumu area of Ekpoma, located within the Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State.
According to information gathered by DAILY POST, two of the victims are students at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
The incident reportedly took place on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 6 PM.
A local source indicated that the occurrence has instilled fear within the community, noting that the three victims were seized from their hostel and taken into the surrounding bush.
Describing the incident, a source known only as Ose Ojo stated that his brother and two others were kidnapped at gunpoint from their residential hostel as they were entering the compound.
He recounted: “As I was about to enter the compound to open the back door for a generator repairer, I suddenly heard voices in the compound shouting ‘kidnappers’. When I turned to see what was happening, I noticed one of the gunmen with a weapon pursuing one of the residents who had just arrived in the compound.
“Before I realized what was occurring, I saw about three other armed men. They abducted my older brother and another resident in the hostel. I then had to jump over the hostel fence to escape.”
The father of one of the victims, who identified himself as Mr. Ojo, urged the state government and relevant security agencies to do everything possible to rescue his son and the other victims.
Ojo expressed his distress: “I cannot endure the agony of having my son taken away by kidnappers to an unknown location or worse.”
Nevertheless, a community source suggested that the incident might be connected to a dispute over the distribution of proceeds from fraudulent activities.
The kidnappers have not yet made contact regarding any ransom demands.
When reached for comment, the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, Moses Yamu, stated that he had not yet received any details about the incident.
