The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, cautioned on Friday that the actions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could lead to the party's downfall.

Wike expressed that it would be challenging for the PDP to endure as the current governors convene meetings that exclude other important stakeholders, including himself.

During his monthly media briefing in Abuja, Wike stated: “Have I not mentioned before that the way these current governors are acting, they will lead to the demise of this party?”

“In the past, as an opposition, we didn’t need to act with arrogance. I am the FCT minister, for heaven's sake; forget your preconceived notions.”

“Are you implying that today, because I’m not a governor, you can hold PDP meetings, label certain individuals as stakeholders, and then leave me out, expecting to thrive?”

“Even if I were not an FCT minister, the contributions I have made to the PDP until now warrant my consultation in party decisions, simply because I’m not a governor? Absolutely not.”

“So when I say this, I have already informed them: mark my words, all this talk about the APC and other nonsense is irrelevant. Is the APC the reason for your poor choices?”

“Is the APC compelling you to make these poor choices? What is the issue? You expect me to sit back while a couple of individuals, just because they are governors and receive significant allocations, make decisions that affect us all, and then you want me to comply?”

“In our time as governors, why did no governor leave? We didn’t encounter such issues. We fought for the chairmanship of the party and even took matters to the Supreme Court. You know that; why did people stay?”
