Niger state Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has dissolved the State Executive Council (SEC), effectively ending the tenure of all commissioners.

The governor announced the decision on Monday during the council meeting held at the government house in Minna.

Governor Bago expressed appreciation to the outgoing cabinet members for their contributions to the development of the state. He directed the outgoing commissioners to hand over affairs to the permanent secretaries of their various ministries.

However, the governor clarified that the dissolution does not affect all political appointees.

He noted that the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), the Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, and other principal aides in his office would remain in their positions.
