Taking to , Tom sat down for a candid video with his followers as he revealed he would be having surgery after tearing the meniscus in his knee.

Yesterday speaking to fans, he began: “So tomorrow I’m going in for surgery and it’s kind of a surgery lucky dip. I’m gonna have no idea what surgery I’m having until I wake up after the surgery. Fun.

“So if you’re wondering what happened, about seven months ago I was training with my crew and I tore my meniscus in my knee.

“For whatever reason, a mixture of me being stupid and also having to push to get an MRI, I only found out recently that it’s actually a bucket handle tear and requires surgery. I didn’t actually find out that I needed surgery until I’d already accepted my fight that I had in June.

“So I had to do that whole fight camp whilst not being able to run and train properly and all that kind of stuff. But that’s a different story for a different day. And this still happened.”

Tom then inserted a clip of himself winning his most recent boxing match despite his injury.

“So it’s been about seven months now. I’ve not been able to dance properly. I’ve not been able to train properly. So I’m getting it sorted and I’m finally getting it sorted tomorrow.

Tom went on to explain how in a meniscus it has “a small portion of it has blood flow” meaning doctors won’t know if it’s repairable until it operates.

“They don’t know if it’s repairable or if they’re just gonna have to cut it out and they won’t be able to tell until they get into surgery, cut open my knee and scratch it, see if it bleeds,” he continued.

Tom admitted that not knowing what was going to happen was “scary times”, he said: “So essentially I’m gonna be put unconscious and have no idea what they’re gonna do to my knee until I wake up. So yeah, scary times.

“The options are they either give me a meniscectomy” which would mean Tom could be recovered as fast as six weeks, but comes with him only having part of his meniscus left and means he is more likely to develop arthritis.

Or they are able to fully repair his meniscus which for Tom would mean he’d “probably be out for six months” which isn’t “ideal” but is better long-term.

He added: “I’m not really scared about going into surgery, but I think the hardest part about it all is not knowing what I’m going to be dealing with afterwards.

“And yeah, as someone who likes to plan ahead and know exactly what I’m doing, I think that’s the hardest part for me is I can’t plan ahead because I don’t know what’s gonna be the situation when I wake up.

Tom went on to deliver some home truths to his fans: “I know from the outside, a lot of the time being a dancer seems glamorous and you see the big stages.

“You see me flying all over to different places competing, you’ve seen me on stage at the stadiums and the arenas, but this is another part of the dance world that people don’t talk about as much. So wish me luck.”

Fans rushed to the comments with floods of well wishes and support for the reality star, as they eagerly await the outcome of his operation.
