Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, says the corruption charges against ex-governor Umar Ganduje stands despite Governor Abba Yusuf’s defection into the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Waiya said this on Thursday while speaking on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’, monitored by DAILY POST.

Recall that Governor Yusuf resigned his membership of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, last Friday and officially joined the APC.

According to Waiya: “As far as the Nigerian legal system is concerned, you may be accused of a number of corruption allegations, but the most important thing is when you are pronounced guilty by the court of law.

“The corruption allegation is still before judicial processes. Kano is evolving, and we are bringing everyone on board. Ganduje has not been found guilty of the allegations.

“No court of law has ever pronounced him to be guilty of such charges or such allegations. We have learned that with the judicial process, we do not want to intervene.”
