The Governing Council of the Federal University Gashu’a (FUGA) in Yobe State has appointed Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam as the new Vice-Chancellor of the institution.
He is the fourth individual to hold the position of substantive Vice-Chancellor since the university's inception.
A statement released on Saturday by Mallam Adamu Saleh, the Deputy Director and Head of the Information and Protocol Unit at FUGA, indicated that this decision followed a thorough and competitive selection process that was finalized during the council's official meeting.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council, Barrister Ibrahim Usman, noted that the appointment adhered strictly to the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act and relevant regulations.
“The appointment of Professor Geidam demonstrates the Governing Council’s dedication to due process and its commitment to positioning the university for ongoing growth and global significance,” Usman remarked.
The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor is a Professor of Veterinary Medicine and brings over twenty years of experience to the role.
He comes to FUGA from the University of Maiduguri, where he held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
