“Consider the local government election; he received widespread support. Even when state authorities attempted to undermine him, it was evident how Nigerians backed him and resisted.”
Ememobong further clarified that supporters were reluctant to take aggressive actions unless the governor signaled a readiness for confrontation.
“In a situation where you are not leading the charge and requesting people to withdraw, supporters might feel that further conflict could jeopardize your interests,” he explained. “Since they care for him, they follow his lead.”
