Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged newly appointed commissioners to give their best in service to the state.
He gave the charge on Wednesday during the swearing-in of the first batch of five commissioners at Government House.
The governor noted that the officials had already proven their readiness for the task after successfully passing what he described as one of the most rigorous screening exercises conducted by the Rivers State House of Assembly earlier in the week.
According to him, the lawmakers had clearly outlined the responsibilities expected of them during the screening process.
“I believe that going through one of the most rigorous screening exercises shows that those who succeeded are fit and ready to serve our state,” the governor said, adding that he expects nothing short of excellent performance from the new appointees.
Those sworn in include Tonye Bellgam, Professor Temple Nwofor, Dr Peters Nwagor, Kenneth Lekue and Amairigha Edward Hart.
The oath of office and oath of allegiance were administered by David D. Ihua-Maduenyi, Chief Registrar of the High Court of Rivers State.
On Friday, Governor Fubara assigned portfolios to the commissioners. Tonye Bellgam: Special Duties, Professor Temple Nwofor: Works, Dr Peters Nwagor: Education, Lekue Kenneth: Finance/Budget and Amairigha Edward Hart: Urban Development & Physical Planning.
