MANCHESTER UNITED transfer target Frenkie De Jong has reportedly told manager Erik ten Hag that he is “happy” to join.
The Dutch midfielder is a long-term target of the Red Devils as they plan to sign him and England star Jude Bellingham.
Last summer, United tried to sign the Barcelona star and agreed a £74million, but a deal fell through over his deferred wages.
This led to the arrivals of Real Madrid star Casemiro for £70m and Christian Eriksen on a free transfer.
The club is believed to remain interested in acquiring his services, as Ten Hag sees him as a world-class player that can help improve his midfield.
And in a boost for United, De Jong has told the manager privately that he was happy to join United, according to MEN.
Although the 25-year-old has publicly stated his preference to stay at the La Liga club.
He has been away from the club during the World Cup as he helped the Netherlands reach the quarter-finals.
Despite the hope of a tournament victory, they were dumped out by eventual winners Argentina on penalties.
United are planning to pair De Jong alongside Borussia Dortmund and England star Jude Bellingham.
