"France Legend Expresses Concern: Is Paul Pogba's Career Over as Monaco Plans to Terminate His Contract?"

EMMANUEL PETIT fears “broken” Paul Pogba will retire once his Monaco contract has been ripped up.

The side are a year early after he managed just 115 minutes of last season.

The former star, 33, has been ravaged by injuries and off-the-pitch issues since leaving in 2022.

His four-year doping ban was reduced to 18 months on appeal, but there was a gap of well over two years between his Monaco debut last November and his last game for .

And Pogba was unable to build any momentum due to stubborn injury problems.

French World Cup winner and ex-Monaco midfielder Petit told SunSport: “This is not a secret to anyone, from the outside you can see that something is broken. His body, his mind, I have no idea.

“With everything he has been through in the last few years, on and off the pitch, it takes a lot of strength, mentally, to go through it.

“His body is not responding well. This is the main worry when you look at Pogba.

“Where is he going to go? What is he going to do? I don’t think he even knows.

“He knows his body is not there anymore. You can do whatever you want but if your body doesn’t respond to the demands of the highest level, just forget it.”

Pogba, who commanded a world record £89million fee when United re-signed him in 2016, and won the World Cup with two years later, has been linked with a transfer to .

But a hamstring injury has threatened to put all moves on hold.

And Petit admits that, if he was calling the shots at a football club, he could not bet on his countryman.

He added: “Everybody knows who Pogba is, but everybody knows who Pogba is right now.

“Right now, if I am in charge of a club, and it’s very hard for me to say because I am a huge fan of , as a player and a person, but I would not take that gamble. I would not give Pogba a chance to come back, because I think this is it.”
