Boko Haram militants have assaulted a military outpost in Ngamdu, located along the Damaturu–Maiduguri Road in the Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, resulting in the deaths of at least four soldiers and injuries to five others.
A statement from the spokesperson for Operation Hadin Kai, Lt. Col. Uba Sani, revealed that the assault, which took place around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, was thwarted by troops following a fierce gunfight, with the terrorists incurring significant losses during the confrontation.
“Troops of Operation HADIN KAI effectively repelled a coordinated terrorist assault in the Ngamdu area, thanks to a swift response from forces on the ground and reinforcements from the 29 Task Force Brigade.
“The assailants utilized Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), armed drones, and command-detonated Improvised Explosive Devices, targeting both troops and their equipment,” the statement partially disclosed.
According to the statement, despite the ferocity of the attack, the troops maintained their position.
He also noted that the terrorists attempted to hinder reinforcements and cause additional casualties by placing multiple IEDs along the Ngamdu–Damaturu Main Supply Route (MSR).
Sani indicated that, in reaction to the assault, troops were promptly resupplied with essential logistics, including MRAP tires and ammunition, to support operations and restore full mobility.
Sani further mentioned that reliable intelligence suggested that the terrorists suffered substantial losses, with reports indicating around 15 bodies buried near Bula Wura, close to Wasaram.
