ADAM LAWRENCE has RESIGNED from his position at Newcastle United after just five months.
The former coach – who has been replaced by – has made the decision to leave St James’ Park after joining in September of last year.

The club has released a statement confirming his departure and also naming his interim replacement as the Magpies search for a new head coach for their Under-21s.
The statement reads: “Adam Lawrence has opted to step down from his position as Lead Coach of Newcastle United Under-21s.
“Lawrence took over the Magpies’ under-21 side in September 2025, joining the Academy from Manchester United, where he served as Lead Coach for the club’s under-18s.
“Robbie Stockdale will take interim charge of United’s under-21s while we proceed with the recruitment of a new head coach.”
Academy Director, Steve Harper, added: “I would like to thank Adam for his contributions while leading the Under-21 group.
“We wish him all the best as he embarks on the next chapter of his coaching career.”
In July, Fletcher – who is currently in interim charge of the senior team following – was appointed as Lawrence’s successor.
Director of Football Jason Wilcox stated: “We are thrilled that Darren will lead our Under-18s group.
“He understands precisely what it takes to be a successful academy graduate and has significantly contributed to shaping the pathway for many of our young players in recent years.
“Darren’s strong relationships across the entire staff will enhance the connection between the academy and the first team, further improving our ability to develop world-class players ready to excel at Manchester United.”
