US President Donald Trump has slammed Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen after his trip to El Salvador to meet with Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was wrongfully deported to El Salvador’s mega-prison.
In a post on his Truth Social on Friday, Trump labelled Van Hollen a fool, adding that he was begging for attention.
“Senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland looked like a fool yesterday standing in El Salvador begging for attention from the Fake News Media, or anyone. GRANDSTANDER!!!”; Trump wrote.
Van Hollen, meanwhile, posted a picture after meeting with Abrego Garcia.
“I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance,”; Van Hollen said in a tweet on on X.
“I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love.”;
However, Van Hollen's post has sparked reactions from some of the opposition party.
This is coming after Van Hollen on Wednesday said authorities in El Salvador .
