Flood caused by a heavy downpour has taken over parts of Yobe State University Teaching Hospital, Damaturu, posing a significant challenge to the public in accessing the facility.

The water was said to have come from Murfakalam, a suburb community on the outskirts of Damaturu metropolis.

Areas affected by the flood in the tertiary healthcare facility include the main entrance gate and the accident and emergency unit.

The incident, which occurred late evening yesterday, gave staff and members of the public a tougher time in gaining access to the hospital, as they had to charge through the flooded areas.

Eyewitnesses attributed the ugly development to a poor drainage system at the frontage of the hospital, which gave the flooding water uninterrupted access to the facility.

No life was reported lost, and no injuries were sustained during the incident.
