"Wildfire Locations in the UK: Interactive Map Reveals Affected Areas After Stourbridge Blaze"

SIX residential homes were destroyed on Thursday afternoon after a wildfire grew out of control in Stourbridge.

The blaze left and resulted in 54 people needing to be treated by paramedics – and it’s one of several around the country this week.

Where are there fires in the UK?

As well as the , other locations in the UK have been affected by wildfires in the last few days.

Chair of the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) Phil Garrigan told BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme: “It’s not just the Stourbridge incident that we’ve dealt with over the last 24 hours.

“We’ve had 11 major incidents declared across the UK – Stourbridge particularly, but Sandwell, Pershore, Stoke-on-Trent.

“We’ve got incidents still raging in Hampshire, in South Wales.

“It’s been a particularly difficult, busy period for the fire and rescue service, where we’ve been under significant pressure.”

A major incident has also been declared in Salford Priors, Stratford-upon-Avon as a fire rages in Warwickshire.

Meanwhile, a wildfire has also broken out near Manningford Road and Pennyacre Road in the Druids Heath area of Birmingham.

A localised outdoor blaze in Solihull has also recently required a responsive fire apparatus to contain it before it spreads to adjacent hedges.

In Rainham, a car fire spread rapidly into roadside grass fencing, causing traffic chaos and requiring the closure of Ferry Lane both ways.

Elsewhere, a major fire in woodland has sent plumes of smoke over Norwich and shut down roads in the city.

And in South Wales seven major wildfires are burning.

In Porth (Rhondda), emergency services have been required as a new fire is raging heavily next to residential properties.

A significant hill and woodland blaze in Blaenavon (Cwmavon Woods) has also been burning for days.

Fires are also actively spreading through Merthyr Tydfil, Rudry Forestry, Mountain Ash (Cefn Pennar), and Newport.

What is the latest on the Stourbridge fire?

The fire in Stourbridge begun at around 1.30pm on Thursday, starting as a massive grass fire that ignited near Stourbridge Golf Club.

From there, the 40-acre blaze grew and became a major incident, destroying six residential homes and causing 54 people to require treatment, with 19 remaining in hospital.

Six members of the public were treated for smoke inhalation as the fire tore through the West Midlands.

An update from West Midlands Fire Service this morning said crews were “making progress” and “tactically working across several different areas of the site.”

Prime Minister Andy Burnham took to X to thank the emergency services, as he said: “Our firefighters are working in incredibly difficult conditions and putting themselves at risk to keep others safe.”
