COPS and firefighters were ambushed and shot while responding to a brush fire sparked to lure them in, according to reports.
The authorities came under gunfire while tackling a blaze near Canfield Mountain in Coeur d’Alene and multiple people were injured.

Fire crews say the fire remains active.
An active shooter alert was issued by Kootenai Country Sheriff’s Office and locals told to stay inside.
People on social media reported the fire had been set deliberately to draw in the emergency workers.
Law enforcement agencies from neighboring Spokane were drafted in to provide assistance.
An air ambulance attended to provide urgent care to the injured.
Two police choppers also flew in to help search for the gunman.
Exact casualty numbers are not yet available as the investigation into the ambush gets underway.
