THIS is the dramatic moment a giant mushroom cloud fireball blast erupts after a fuel train derailment in Russia.

Flames were sent over 1,000ft into the sky after the explosion as suspicions were raised over if Vladimir Putin’s key war train was hit in a sabotage attack.

Billowing smoke could be seen across the Russian region of Tambov after the terrifying blast which left around 30 rail wagons reportedly damaged.

The impacted train line at the Kochetovka-2 station handles heavy freight traffic, including fuel, equipment, and other bulk supplies.

Some of which are believed to be critical for moving goods towards southern Russia to help fuel Putin’s war efforts.

Horror footage shows a column of black smoke rising through the sky after one of the carriages on the train derailed.

As the fuel begins to leak from the car, a raging fireball begins to erupt from within the smoke.

The ball of flames rises for more than 15 seconds as they reach 1,000ft.

The blast immediately led to at least eight intercity trains being delayed including those running between Moscow and Russian-occupied Crimea.

Emergency services, including fire crews and recovery trains, rushed to the scene after the giant blast was first reported.

Russian Railways said an operational response centre had been set up to manage the situation and assess damage to the infrastructure.

The cause of the derailment remains under investigation.

Initial reports suggested the train driver may have been injured while attempting to contain the fire.

No casualties have been reported.

While it remains unclear what was behind the attack, Ukraine has a history of attacking Russian train networks.

Back in 2023, Ukraine 3,000 miles inside Russia cutting its main link to China, security sources claimed.

Four blasts rocked the ten-mile tunnel in the Severomuyskiy mountains as a train passed through – “paralysing” a key weapons supply route.

Kyiv has spent the past four years of war carrying out several sabotage strikes on their enemies.

Last summer they pulled off one of the most daring attacks by reportedly sent across to Russian soldiers.

At least four men are said to have died in excruciating pain after drinking the water.

Ukraine war latest

Envoys from Russia and Ukraine met in Abu Dhabi today for another round of US-brokered peace talks aimed at ending the war.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov would not offer any details on the discussions but did give a glimmer of hope a deal can be thrashed out.

He said that “the doors for a peaceful settlement are open,” but noted that Russia would press its military action until Ukraine met its demands.

The trilateral negotiations will last two days and were held as Russia again carried out further attacks on the Ukrainian energy system.

Russia unleashed hundreds of drones and a record 32 ballistic missiles, wounding at least 10 people overnight on Tuesday.

This came despite Ukraine’s understanding that Putin had told Donald Trump he would temporarily halt strikes on Ukraine’s power grid.

The Institute for the Study of War, a Washington think-tank, said the developments were part of the Russian negotiating strategy.

It warned: “The Kremlin will likely attempt to portray its adherence to this short-term energy strikes moratorium as a significant concession to gain leverage in the upcoming peace talks, even though the Kremlin used these few days to stockpile missiles for a larger strike package.”
