Thick plumes of smoke covered the area, about 50km west of Oslo, but there were no official reports of casualties or people missing.

Shocking pictures showed a terrifying inferno ripping through homes and forested areas in Drammen.

A witness told The Sun cars and pets were abandoned amid the chaos.

But he couldn’t confirm whether any Brits were caught up in the carnage.

Anthony Kidd told us: “The fire spread so rapid, that many had to just run! Cars, cellphones, wallets, even pets were left behind!”

He said it was the “largest fire in Norway in the last 100 years”.

The local added: “Fire is still ongoing… Still spreading into homes and surrounding forest.

“Emergency services have been drawn in from the surrounding 100km radius area.

“None from the British beer club in our area are effected. Two casualties known about. Unknown if any dead.

“There are missing/dead pets.”

More than 60 firefighters worked to put out the fire, while helicopters were deployed to douse the flames with water.

Hundreds of people were also evacuated from their homes amid the mayhem.

It is currently unclear how the fire started.
