Herrick, 20, is an England Under-20 international but had only previously been on the bench for West Ham’s first team four times this season.

He spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Boreham Wood in the National League.

Junior shot-stopper Herrick, who has come through the Hammers’ academy, was called on from the bench.

He went through a rapid warm-up in front of the home fans at the London Stadium before quickly putting his gloves on and getting match ready.
