FRANCE were not allowed to wear black armbands in memory of Didier Deschamps’ late mother after Fifa rejected the team’s request ahead of their crucial World Cup clash with Norway.

Les Bleus boss Deschamps left the United States a few day ago following the heartbreaking family tragedy and will miss Friday night’s Group I decider.

The French federation had reportedly been denied permission by to wear black armbands in memory of Deschamps’ late mother.

While assistant Guy Stephan takes the reins today, the FFF were forced into an embarrassing U-turn after prematurely announcing a minute’s silence for Deschamps’ mother.

The federation later clarified that FIFA had already blocked out the tribute to commemorate the victims of the Venezuela earthquake.

Furthermore, the FFF disclosed that FIFA denied a secondary request for Les Bleus to wear black armbands, with the governing body now facing questions over the refusal.
