Judges of the Federal High Court of Nigeria are to proceed on their 2026 Easter vacation from April 7, according to the Chief Judge of the Court, Justice John Terhemba Tsoho.

The Chief Judge who disclosed this on Friday in Abuja said that the vacation is pursuant to to the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4 (d) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2019, as amended.

He said that the vacation will commence from Tuesday, 7 April 2026 and terminate on Monday, 13 April 2026.

The court will resume normal sittings on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, in all judicial divisions.

During the vacation period, the Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt and Enugu core judicial divisions shall remain open to the public strictly for matters of extreme urgency.

A statement by the court’s Director of Information, Dr. Catherine Oby Christopher, said that only matters relating to the enforcement of fundamental rights, arrest or release of vessels and matters concerning dire national interest shall be entertained by the vacation judges during the period.

According to the statement, Justices Emeka Nwite and Musa Suleiman Liman will hold forth for Abuja division while Lagos division has Justices Akintayo Aluko and Ogazi Nkemakonam as vacation judges.

The Port Harcourt division has Justices Phoebe M. Ayua and Adamu T. Mohammed, while Enugu division has Justices Mabel T. Segun-Bello

Meanwhile, the vacation judges and heads of divisions have been directed to promptly refer to the Chief Judge, any matter requiring his urgent attention and directives.
