The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, conducted road inspections in the capital city on Saturday.
Wike visited the Wuye District of the FCT, where he received updates about the project from the contractor in charge.
During the address, the Managing Director of Arab Contractors, Engr. Mohamed Eldaros, stated: “Approximately 37 roads have been completed along with all the associated infrastructure. In addition to this interchange bridge, there are two river bridges located within Wuye.
“We have also established technical substations providing electricity; the work is finished, and residents are currently living there. There is also telecom and water supply, along with all necessary services.
“Currently, we are working on road markings, which is the final stage of the project.
“We have achieved 60 percent completion, and within 20 months—less than two years—we expect to complete the remaining 40 percent with adequate funding. We have successfully handed over this critical point.”
In a similar manner, the minister also inspected the ongoing construction of the road connecting Airport Road with the Kuje Area Council.
This road, which features a two-lane carriageway with additional subs, will effectively create five lanes and is projected to be completed by June 2026.
“We can assure you that with the support we are receiving, it will be finished by June next year, especially as we are entering the dry season now,” Eldaros remarked.
