FCT: Looking for my trouble not good – Wike warns

Published on June 11, 2025 at 02:55 PM

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday warned against looking for his trouble.

Wike warned contractors that looking for his trouble was not a good venture, asking those who made promises to deliver to endeavour to do so, timely.

He spoke during the commissioning of the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) from Ring Road 1 (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Way) and other roads in the Katampe district of the FCT by President Bola Tinubu.

According to Wike: “This job was awarded by the Federal council in September and we flagged off in October and I told the contractor, I don’t want to hear abandonment.

“If I pay you during the rainy season you must work during the rainy season; if I pay you during the dry season you must work in the dry season. I don’t want to hear that the rain was too much. Return the money so that we will keep it after the rain, we will pay you.

“Initially I was skeptical about the CGC contractor until you appointed us in August 2023.

“The road from the presidential Villa going to Asokoro, that interchange – I couldn’t believe we could have it now, it was done by CGC, it was not awarded under this administration but everybody saw how that place was.

“So I started having confidence in them. I told them, are you sure Mr President will commission this project during his second year in office? They said yes, should I include it as part of the projects to be commissioned? They said yes.

“I said to look for my trouble is not good – now you have made a promise, you have to keep to the promise.”;
