The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has declared that he is not a land grabber.
Wike said contrary to critics on social media, he is only doing his job and not grabbing lands.
The minister spoke during the inauguration of the Federal High Court Judges Quarters in Katampe area of Abuja as part of projects to mark President Bola Tinubu’s third year in office.
Tinubu was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the event.
He said: “When we came here looking for land where will construct judges Quarters, there was no road but last year, Mr President commissioned all the roads within this Katampe.
“This land belongs to Julius Berger PLC and when I looked at the records, 15 years ago they were given the property and there was no development and I said we wanted to build Judges Quarters, so we took back our land. All over the social media, they were calling me land grabber but I didn’t bother myself because I knew where I was going to.
“Any politician not called names is not a politician, out of that land grabbing is where we are today, so people should know that I did not grab any land, I’m doing the work I’m supposed to do.
“We have acquired every property around this area and it will be named Judges zone and we don’t want any other person to stay within this vicinity. Those who built over two, three stories I asked them to bring it down and pay them compensation.”
