But severe weather has battered the pitch, leading to the referee calling the clash off.
It was confirmed that player safety concerns led to the game being postponed at short notice.
In a statement released on X , Aldershot said: “We can confirm that our fixture vs Yeovil Town has been postponed for player safety due to severe weather conditions.
“A new date will be agreed in due course. Once this is confirmed, we will let all our fans know.
“We’re sorry for the disappointment.”
But Aldershot fans were already on their way to Huish Park by the time the decision was made.
And irate supporters headed onto social media to make their feelings clear.
One said: “Absolute joke.”
Another added: “I’ll have to book another half a day of holiday… I don’t have much left!”
A third chimed in: “Tinpot s***houses.”
A fourth bluntly commented: “Player safety?”
Yeovil revealed that an intense downpour led to the referee arriving at Huish Park earlier than expected to carry out a last-minute pitch inspection.
Aldershot will next be in action on Saturday, when they host title-chasing Carlisle.
And Yeovil are due to head to Woking, who are seven points adrift of the play-off places, on the same day.
