Officers and the ambulance were called to the scene but Najib sadly passed away in hospital that evening.

In a moving statement, his family said: “Najib was taken from us far too soon. He was the most amazing, kind, and beautiful husband, son, and soon to be dad.

“We are beyond words and the pain is indescribable.”

Stefan Wheeler, 31, from Northgate in Doncaster, has been charged with murder, dangerous driving and other motoring offences. He is due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Tuesday.

Police have also since arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of murder who remains in custody.

Six others arrested in connection with the collision have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Officers are continuing to investigate the incident and are calling for anyone with information to get in touch via their public portal.

Appealing for information, Det Insp Adam Watkinson said: “I am thankful for everyone who has provided information so far, and we are still appealing for those with dashcam footage, and witnesses to the incident to come forward.

“The primary aim of our investigation will always be to secure justice for the victim and his loved ones.”
