Family reveals cause of ‘Gwo gwo ngwo’ singer, Mike Ejeagha’s death

The family of the late veteran musician, Mike Ejeagha, has revealed his cause of death.

DAILY POST reports that the ‘Gwo gwo ngwo’ crooner died on Friday evening at the age of 95.

However, speaking in an interview with Vanguard newspaper on Saturday morning, the singer’s eldest son, Emma Ejeagha stated that his father died of prostate cancer.

Emma explained that his father died at the 32 Garrison Hospital in Enugu, after battling with cancer since 2006.

“Papa died on Friday, at 8 p.m. and his body has been deposited in the mortuary. I was with him during his final moments.”;

Emma further revealed that the late musician had instructed him not to embalm or keep his body in the morgue for too long.

DAILY POST recalls that Mike Ejeagha’s 1983 classic, Gwo gwo ngwo’ gained prominence in 2024 after popular skit maker, Brain Jotter used the song in a global dance challenge.
