The family of a mother discovered deceased in a scalding bathtub fears that their beloved relative may have been compelled to consume drugs.
Ana Carolina de Silva was found lifeless alongside her husband in a motel bathtub after they had been celebrating until the early hours following their daughter’s fourth birthday party.

The couple, who were found in a bathtub filled with 50°C water, died due to poisoning, which resulted in severe dehydration and heatstroke, leaving their young daughter orphaned.
Both parents had traces of cocaine and elevated alcohol levels in their blood at the time of death.
Ana’s family stated unequivocally that she was “not a drug user” in a statement released to the media.
The family expressed concerns about “possible forced ingestion or poisoning” after the 42-year-old businesswoman was found deceased.
“It is with profound indignation that we, the family of Ana Carolina de Silva, condemn the false news that has been circulated,” the statement began.
“Although reports indicate the presence of substances in her blood, we assert with complete certainty that Ana was not a drug user.”
“Given the inconsistencies, we raise serious concerns about possible forced ingestion or poisoning and demand a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation,” the statement continued.
The family wishes to “preserve Ana’s memory and dignity, [and to] ensure that the truth prevails over cruel and unjust speculation.”
“We will not permit her story to be tarnished by unfounded assumptions,” the statement emphasized.
“We will continue to seek answers, confident that justice will be achieved.”
The statement was released on October 1, when the Civil Police confirmed that Ana and her husband, military police officer Jeferson Luiz Sagaz, 37, “[died from] exogenous poisoning.”
Chief medical examiner Andressa Boer Fronza stated that the deaths resulted from “heatstroke with intense dehydration, thermal collapse, culminating in organ failure and death.”
Investigators indicated that the couple passed out in a bathtub filled with 50°C water while a space heater was blasting heat into the room.
Toxicology tests revealed very high alcohol levels and traces of cocaine, as reported by Globo G1 .
In addition to the room, officers examined the couple’s vehicle and the motel’s CCTV footage.
Following the family’s statement, the Civil Police informed Brazilian media outlet G1 that “it would not be commenting on the investigation.”
The scientific police stated that “all forensic examinations carried out followed strict scientific protocols and were conducted by official experts and specialized technical teams,” reiterating the sentiments of the finalized reports.
In a press conference where details of the investigation were disclosed to the public, chief inspector Felipe Simao mentioned that the couple “had an active social life but did not have a drug habit.”

“The primary issue raised in the statements we took, after speaking to those involved, is that they did not have a habit of using cocaine,” he noted.
The couple had spent the day celebrating their daughter’s birthday at a food park, drinking before heading to a nightclub.
They checked into the Dallas Motel in São José, Santa Catarina state, just after midnight on August 11.
However, Jeferson and Ana Carolina did not return to pick up their child the next morning at Jeferson’s sister’s home.
Concerned relatives reported them missing, and police later discovered the couple lifeless in the bathroom.
Authorities stated there was no history of violence.
