THE FAMILY of a teenager who died in a horror crash have hailed him as “the kindest soul” in a heartbreaking tribute.

William Thomas Sullivan, 19, tragically passed away when two cars were involved in a collision on Preston Road in Grimsargh, on Sunday.

Emergency services scrambled to the scene at around 9.55am but were unable to save the teenager’s life.

The road was sealed off following the incident between an MG and an Audi.

The driver of the latter vehicle, a woman in her 40s, was treated for minor injuries.

Following his death, William’s family penned a poignant tribute which was shared by Lancashire .

“To his parents, the most wanted and loved son there has ever been,” they wrote.

“To his sister, he was the best brother and the kindest soul.

“An amazing grandson and nephew, absolutely idolised and adored by his young nieces.

“A true and loyal friend – William took his friends as they were, distance, age or personal circumstance were no barrier, he loved them all equally.

“Funny, caring, intelligent and wise beyond his years, he surprised us all every day – he was just the ‘best boy’.

“William we are all so immensely proud of the young man you became and of everything you achieved in your short life, we know there was so much more to come and just wish we had longer together.

“We are so very grateful to have had the privilege of being your Mum and Dad.

“The gaping chasm you leave in all of our hearts is too much to bear.”

The victim’s family continue to be supported by specialist officers, while into the fatal collision continue.

Witnesses and motorists with relevant dashcam footage have been urged to come forward.

The heartbroken family also offered their thanks to members of the public who tried to help William.

They continued: “We want to say thank you to the members of the public who came to William’s aid on Sunday, and to the emergency services who worked tirelessly to save our boy.

“The impact that this will have had on those people, even those who would say they were ‘just doing their job’, is not lost on us as a family. Please, take care of yourselves.”

Previously, DS Matt Davidson said: “Sadly, a young man has lost his life as a result of this collision, and my thoughts are with his loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.

“We know that the road being closed for a significant amount of time will have affected people’s journeys, and I want to thank those affected for their patience and understanding today whilst we responded to and began our investigation into the collision.

“Our enquiries are ongoing, and I am asking for your help with those enquiries by appealing for any information or footage that may assist us.

“If you have CCTV or Dashcam of Preston Road between Grimsargh and Preston between 9.45am and 10am today (Sunday), we would be particularly interested in seeing it.

“If you witnessed the collision or the moments prior to or after the collision and haven’t yet spoken to us, please come forward and get in touch.”
