MARTIN BRUNDLE says he will only be part of Sky Sports’ coverage for 16 Grand Prix events this year.

The Formula One legend, 66, was in Australia as in the season opener.

But Sky Sports viewers were stunned when was not walking the starting grid in China or Japan last month.

And the broadcasting icon, who is set to be on our screens for the Miami Grand Prix on May 3, has revealed his workload has been reduced after attending 18 races in 2025.

He told the Sky F1 podcast: “I do 16 races a year, so I have to miss some and they tend to be the early-hours-of-the-morning races.

“But I always feel a bit sad when I’m not in Suzuka [for the ] because I love that track as a driver and as a broadcaster, but I can’t do them all these days.

“I’m definitely in Miami. That is going to be, I think, almost like the start of a new season.

“It’s going to be one of the biggest relaunches in the history of F1, I think, and it’s going to be early May, but I’m looking forward to it.”

And he has gone on to enjoy three decades in broadcasting after joining Sky in 2012 following spells with the likes of ITV and the BBC.

But it is unclear whether Brundle’s lower amount of air time is down to a contractual change or because of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian races being cancelled.

Sky’s presenters, commentators and analysts have been working on a rotation system since the season expanded to 24 showdowns.

It resulted in Brundle missing the Japanese, Emilia Romagna, Austrian, Azerbaijan, Mexican and Las Vegas grands prix last year.

The fan favourite made a last September, when he competed in the Spa Six Hours alongside his son Alex.
