Former Russia defender, Vladimir Granat has expressed disappointment and regret over the absence of several key Super Eagles players, especially Victor Osimhen ahead of the upcoming international friendly between Russia and Nigeria.

The international friendly will take place at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on June 6.

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle had already announced his sqaud for the encounter.

Chelle did not include the likes of Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey on the list to face Russia.

However, Granat is not pleased with Chelle’s squad listening, insisting that it was a pity.

He also stressed that the Super Eagles won’t be featuring their strongest starting XI against the hosts.

Speaking to Sport Express, Granat said: “Nigeria is one of the strongest opponents in recent times. I expect a good match from our guys.

“It is a pity that such top players as Osimhen won’t come. I wanted Nigeria to be in a fighting lineup.

“Then our guys would be able to test themselves at the level of world football,”;; he stated.
