A WOMAN has been charged with murder after pushing her newborn off the eleventh floor of an apartment building just moments after giving birth.
The 22-year-old delivered her baby boy in her Taichung City home at 3am, before wrapping him in a blanket and pushing him from a windowsill.

Police say the woman, only identified by her surname Xia, killed her son on November 28 last year, because she was upset over breaking up with her boyfriend.
Local media reported she threw the tiny baby out of the window in “a fit of anger”, during an argument with her ex-partner – identified only as Zhuang.
She was arrested on November 26 by police in the Taiwanese city following an investigation that found her to be responsible for her son’s death.
Investigators say the newborn had shown signs of life, including breathing and a pulse before his tragic death.
The infant landed in a flowerbed on the ground below and sustained multiple fractures, internal bleeding and organ damage.
He died after the fall.
Cops initially treated his death as an accident, however doctors raised concerns after the baby was taken to hospital.
Kao Ta-Cheng, director of the forensic medicine department at Chung Shan University Hospital , reported the parents had been arguing over the identity of the child’s father.
The investigation was then reclassified to a murder.
Prior to the alleged murder, Xia and Zhuang had an argument and broke up.
On the night of heartbreaking incident, Zhuang allegedly said the boy “may not even be his son”, sparking Xia into a rage.
The couple, who had been together since 2021, also share a daughter.
The pair separated in March 2024.
Investigators said Xia realised her period had been late at the end of March, but only found out she was pregnant in October.
Authorities said the Taiping Police Branch and the Taichung City Social Affairs Bureau filed complaints over the incident.
Prosecutors said Xia has been charged under the Child and Youth Welfare Act and on murder charges.
The case will be heard in a trial by jury.
