NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO begins his tenure as West Ham United manager tonight, as the Hammers face Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in his first game at the helm.

Everton vs West Ham preview

It’s a night of firsts for West Ham as they step out at Everton’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium for the very first time.

They’ll also have a new face in the dugout, with Nuno Espirito Santo taking charge of his first game since being appointed on Saturday to replace Graham Potter, who was dismissed after just eight months at the helm.

Nuno arrives with a full in-tray.

West Ham have taken just three points from their opening five league games, leaving them 19th in the Premier League table.

Their attacking struggles are clear with only three sides having scored fewer than their five – while at the back, they’ve managed just one clean sheet and conceded 13 times, a tally matched only by Burnley and Wolves.

The Hammers are also winless in their last three Premier League outings on a Monday night.

But there is cause for optimism this evening, thanks to their strong recent record against Everton.

Since the start of 2021, West Ham have recorded more Premier League wins only against Wolves (6) than they have against the Toffees (5). Everton, meanwhile, have won just one of their last five top-flight home games against the east London side.

As for Everton, they too are in need of a morale-boosting result to get their campaign back on track after a promising start to the 2025–26 season.

After claiming back-to-back wins over Brighton and Wolves, the Toffees are now three games without a victory, having endured a tough week that saw them lose the Merseyside derby and exit the Carabao Cup at the hands of Wolves.

However, both defeats came on the road. Back at the Hill Dickinson Stadium – where they’ve yet to concede a Premier League goal this season – there’s greater reason for confidence. That home form is no fluke either: Everton have lost just two of their 12 top-flight games on home soil since David Moyes returned to the club.

Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.

Mr Assist

We’re backing Everton’s Jack Grealish to provide an assist at the enhanced price of 3/1 with William Hill tonight.

It’s no secret that Grealish, 30, is Everton’s creator-in-chief, having already registered four assists in five Premier League outings this season.

He’s created a whopping 13 chances for his teammates, with an expected assists (xA) total of 1.69 – the highest in the entire division. So, given West Ham’s defensive struggles, having shipped a league-high 13 goals, we expect Jack to take full advantage and bolster his assist tally.

Unexpected

Yes, Nuno Espirito Santo is now in charge – but he’s had very limited time to work with his players and fix their set-piece woes.

West Ham have already conceded seven goals from corners in the Premier League this season – just one fewer than they let in across the entirety of last term. In fact, a staggering 32% of all goals from corners in the league (7/22) have come against the Hammers.

That’s not ideal against an Everton side who rank fourth for expected goals (xG) from set-pieces at 3.17.

So we’re backing Michael Keane – who leads Everton’s set-piece threat with three headers on target – to get on the scoresheet anytime at a bumper 7/1.
