NEWCASTLE were condemned to a third defeat in four games after losing 1-0 to Everton at home on Monday night.
The Magpies have struggled in the Premier League and were sluggish again as Thierno Barry netted the only goal of the game.
Newcastle keeper Lukas Hornicek’s woeful mistake allowed Tyrique George’s shot to squirm through his fingers before Barry tapped home.
Matthias Jaissle’s men could have got level after Anthony Elanga’s effort at the far post hit the woodwork but somehow did not cross the line.
And Yoane Wissa had another big chance late on before his shot was parried by Jordan Pickford.
More to follow.
