Former Arsenal man, Martin Keown has slammed Chelsea boss, Graham Potter, accusing the Englishman of âtrying to be too cleverâ after the Blues were thrashed by Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday.
Potter was defeated for the first time since taking over from Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge, going nine matches unbeaten.
But his first came from his immediate former club, Brighton as the Blues were hammered 4-1 by his former side.
Chelsea helped the Seagulls with two own goals from Chalobah and Ruben Loftus-Cheek as the home side raced into a three goal lead.
Kai Havertz pulled one back for the visitors 3 minutes after the restart, the home team held on and restored their three goal lead in injury time.
Keown believes Potter is overcomplicating matters with his near constant tinkering.
“Chelsea looked unrecognisable at the back. I think there were too many changes,” former Arsenal defender told the BBC.
“They are wing-backs that arenât wing-backs. They played Raheem Sterling in a wing-back position today and I donât think it suited the way they played.
“Maybe Graham Potter was trying to be too clever. Keep it the same and football is a simple game.”
