Former Manchester United man, Michael Owen, has given the only condition for Raheem Sterling to leave Chelsea.

According to the former Liverpool striker, Sterling is currently in a messy situation after failing to leave Stamford Bridge last summer transfer window.

The English player has been banished from the Chelsea squad for this season as the player refused to accept deals to go abroad or lower his weekly wage to join lower clubs.

“It’s a difficult one with Raheem,’ Owen told 247Bet, adding “he’s on big wages, and he didn’t quite grasp his chance at Arsenal.”

Recent reports from Stamford Bridge said that the England international has been told to henceforth eat alone and use a separate toilet from the squad.

The former Liverpool player was said to have refused to reduce his weekly wage to allow clubs like Fulham or Crystal Palace to sign him.

He also rejected clubs from Saudi Arabia and Major League Soccer who were willing to pay his huge salary.

Owen believes that for the winger to be able to leave Chelsea, he must be willing to cut his weekly earnings and be willing to join a lesser club.

“Sadly, the only way for him now is probably down to Crystal Palace, West Ham, that type of club,” Owen said as quoted by Metro.

“But only if he’s happy to take a big wage cut, which only he can answer.

“Some might say, ‘Well, you’re rich enough already

“If he’s already very wealthy and doesn’t need the money, maybe he would.”

Sterling moved to Chelsea from Manchester City in 2022.

He has made 59 appearances for the west London side, scoring 14 goals.

The Englishman spent last season on loan at Arsenal and performed below the expectations of the Gunners’ fans.
